At a glance

DBDB DNS Control connects directly to the user-configured Pi-hole. DBDB Digital Studios does not operate a relay or backend for the app. No DBDB account is required. The app contains no advertising SDK, analytics SDK, third-party crash-reporting SDK, or cross-app tracking, and DBDB does not sell user data.

Data handled on the device

The app stores server connection metadata, preferences, and legal acceptance locally. The Pi-hole credential is stored in Apple Keychain. Authentication sessions, DNS query pages, and bounded real-time activity are held in memory only. DBDB DNS Control does not persist DNS query activity.

Local Change History stores at most 200 limited configuration-action records: time, server friendly name, category, general description, outcome, and reversal status. Domains are masked by default. It does not store credentials, headers, response bodies, query history, or client browsing history.

Direct network communication

Requests travel directly between the device and the independently operated Pi-hole, over the local network or an existing private VPN. The app does not create, control, or provide a VPN. DBDB does not receive Pi-hole credentials, DNS activity, or statistics through normal app operation.

HTTP is unencrypted and is limited by the app to an intentionally configured local or private-network route. HTTPS uses Apple system trust. The app does not bypass certificate validation; a self-signed certificate must be trusted by the device through appropriate system administration.

Diagnostics and support

Diagnostics remove or mask recognized addresses, hostnames, URLs, domains, client identifiers, MAC addresses, and authentication material. Review the preview before copying. If you email support, the email providers process the message and delivery metadata.

Privacy Mode selectively masks activity details and is not complete application locking.

Retention and deletion

Forget Server removes server metadata and requests deletion of the Keychain credential. Clear Live Data discards in-memory activity. Clear Change History removes local action records. App deletion removes the app container, subject to Apple platform and backup behavior; revoke the server credential when access should end.

These actions do not erase data retained by the independently operated Pi-hole. Use Pi-hole’s own controls to manage its configuration, logs, and history.
